Alexander the Great's Castle: Kadifekale

Velvet is the meaning of Kadife, and Kale means Castle. The name of the castle comes from the mountain where it is founded: Mount Kadife. The castle was founded in the 4th century BC. It is believed that the castle was built by Lymachos, one of the generals of Alexander the Great. Thus, it contains traces from the Hellenic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods. One of the rumors is that the Amazons, a warrior tribe, lived here, also.

You can go there by taxi. Another option is public buses that run between Konak and Kadifekale. The departure place of the buses is very close to the Clock Tower in the city center. Their numbers are 33.
