Internet Preferences in Turkey

It may be useful to know some internet habits during your visit to Turkey. You can examine some facts and datas in this post...
Messaging and Voice over IP (VoIP) services:
WhatsApp is the most popular application and nearly every smartphone user prefer this service. If you see WeChat as a counterpart to WhatsApp, you should also know that it is not popular in Turkey. WeChat has almost no one except those who trade with Far Eastern countries such as China. BiP is a domestic service that is much more common than WeChat, but not as popular as WhatsApp.

Social Media and others:
Facebook and Instagram are the most popular social media channels in Turkey. Also Twitter is another one favoured by many. Pinterest is popular for mostly webmasters, and Foursquare is preferred by mostly young people. Snapchat and Periscope are also used in, but it is hard to find someone who use them oftenly. Same for Tumblr and Flickr, as well. On the other hand, Foursquare and Quora are popular than them.

Search Engines:
When someone ask a "search engine", everyone says Google. The same situation in Turkey. In contrast, Bing, Yaani and Yandex are other options.

Hotels and Airlines:
If you want to check out a hotel or airline from social media, they mostly use their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. Some airlines also have channels that serve different languages besides Turkish.
