İzmir Metropolitan Municipality announced that there'll be a new building in front of the Agora. The new building won't be inside of the ruins, but it's going to be effect its visibility, possitively.
According to the Municipality, the remains of the Ancient Agora of Smyrna are important for the city. The new building will include safety room, gift shop, and ticket office. It'll be disabled friendly as well.
Where is the Ancient Agora of Smyrna?
The ruins are located in district of Konak. If you stay in a hotel in Alsancak, Basmane or Çankaya, you can arrive Agora by walking. The remains of the Roman Period, built in the 2nd century BC, are one of the best preserved examples from that period.
* If you use the subway, you should land at Çankya Station. Then, you will walk just 750 meters to go Agora.
