There are different train lines in Turkey and one of them is High Speed Train (HST, YHT in Turkish) just like TGV and ICE. HST is operated by Turkish State Railways for ten years, and there are three different routes and four lines.
Travel by HST is even faster in some cases than travel by plane. We had evaluated it before in How to Travel between Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir? It is also cheap and safe. So, if you want to experience it, here are some details...
- Lines
1) Ankara - İstanbul
There are 8 (eight) different train lines between 06:00 and 19:20. Four of them are express and journey time is an average of four hours. The duration of the other lines lasts for a maximum of four and a half hours.
ps: You can use Marmaray in Pendik Station, İstanbul. Also Pendik Station is closed to Sabiha Gokcen Airport.
2) İstanbul - Konya
This line, which runs for a maximum of four and a half hours, is operated on the route that can be used by those who want to go to Eskişehir. It is operated three times a day.
3) Ankara - Eskişehir
This line, which completes the period between the two cities in an hour and a half, is held 13 times a day.
4) Ankara - Konya
The expeditions, which are held seven times a day, last about two hours.
5) Others
There are also lines under construction. In later times, Ankara is expected to connect Izmir and Sivas with HST.
- When you can prefer them?
1) If you are going from Istanbul to Ankara, Eskişehir or Konya and want both affordable and fast transportation...
2) If you are going to finish your holiday anywhere in Turkey and spend time in Istanbul, finally...

1) 20% discount for passengers aged between 60 and 65.
2) 50% discount for passengers over 65.
